VR Fire Extinguisher Training

Project Overview

I led the development and launch of Fire Shield’s Virtual Reality Fire Extinguisher Training App (Version 1.0)—an immersive, scalable safety training solution designed to modernize how organizations prepare for fire emergencies. The program leverages real-time simulation to provide hands-on extinguisher training without the cost, risk, or logistical complexity of live-fire exercises.

The Challenge

Traditional fire extinguisher training often requires:

  • Controlled live burns
  • Permit coordination
  • Fire department oversight
  • Equipment recharge and cleanup

These constraints limit frequency, increase costs, and reduce accessibility for many organizations.

The Solution

We built a fully interactive VR experience powered by Unreal Engine and optimized for Meta Quest 3. The simulation places users in realistic emergency scenarios where they must:

  • Identify the type of fire
  • Select the correct extinguisher
  • Apply the PASS method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)
  • Respond under time-sensitive conditions

To enhance realism, the system supports both standard VR controllers and a custom extinguisher-style physical prop, increasing tactile engagement and retention.

My Role

  • Concept development and strategic direction
  • UX flow and scenario planning
  • Visual environment and interaction oversight
  • Hardware integration planning
  • Brand alignment and launch coordination
  • Marketing asset development and public release support

Impact

  • Scalable training solution for corporate, industrial, and educational clients
  • Reduced liability and environmental impact compared to live burns
  • Repeatable, measurable training experiences
  • Positioned Fire Shield as an innovation leader in fire safety technology

This project demonstrates my ability to bridge immersive technology, strategic marketing, and operational execution to create real-world training solutions that drive measurable business value.
